The Abby Story

The road to achieving big goals is paved with a series of good ideas and the hard work it takes to do so. 

This is how the Abby story starts…

A big goal. A really big one.

 

“Combating serious lifestyle diseases and the equally serious lack of awareness of how to do so”.

 

Achieving such a goal is no easy task, it takes equal parts; passion as it does grit and that is something the dynamic father son duo, Dave and Josh, have plenty of.

 

The dream before the dream

 

Both Josh and Dave’s passions for health screening began long before Abby even did. 

 

For Dave, through his own career experience was introduced to the concept and practice of measuring Body Fat % more than 30 years ago. And this was where the interest for health screening first began, with an early version of Abby named; The Healthinator.

 

Meanwhile, Josh’s Abby story began as early as when he was 16, as he watched his dad build and grow The Healthinator. 

 

“My dad taught me everything about body fat—how to measure it, why it matters, and 

how a healthy body fat percentage can prevent many diseases. His passion sparked my own commitment to making a difference.”

 

The growth story of The Healthinator unfortunately hit a bump in the road, after a large sponsorship deal fell through and the whole project needed to be shelved. Years later, after his own career ventures, Josh revived the idea again with Dave. With a combination of decades of field knowledge and experience as well as the pure drive to succeed, this is where the Abby story truly takes off. 


 

Introducing Abby:

 

In 2018, the partnership officially began with a father, a son, a developer and a dream. And after hard work and careful consideration, The Healthinator was redesigned and rebranded to The Abby of today. With all new innovative hardware and software, as well as a sleek new design, Abby was born.

And today, Abby has over 50 employees both full time and part time and has worked with some incredible clients across multiple sectors, including insurance, health and industrial. 

 

The Hello Howzit effect

Whilst Abby is on a mission to drive awareness around lifestyle diseases and the prevention thereof, one such mission can not be achieved when focusing on health alone. 

 

Enter “the Hello Howzit”.

 

Josh and Dave, both knew the importance of building trust before trying to build advocacy. Both for their own brand and for their clients who want to benefit from using Abby. One’s health is one of the most personal and important things to any individual and it is often only when we have a lack thereof that we truly appreciate it. 

 

So whilst people need a reminder to take their health seriously, they need a trusted partner to help them do so. And what better way to build trust than through conversation; "The Hello Howzit".

The second difference and the heart of Abby, is in both the dynamism and dichotomy of the pair that is Dave and Josh. The new meets old school, the caution and the courage, the perseverance and the passion, and the beauty of how these all have come together over the years, to build the brand that is Abby.
